A Neo is a jump where the player moves around a wall, or more specifically, around the corners of blocks.
Performing Neos somewhat consistently will require you to first learn the difference between X and Z collision.
Tip: Check if a wall is X- or Z-facing by pressing F3 and moving back and forth while facing straight at the wall.
When moving along the X axis, collision behaves "naturally"; when you touch a wall, it slows you down right away.
This means that when setting up an X-facing Neo, you will have to back up a bit first.
For a basic 1 block X-facing Neo, sneak into the corner, shift tap back 3 times, aim slightly outward, then use your setup of choice.
(I recommend learning with 4st walk as seen in the video, because some variants will require it. Everything in the Setups guide applies, but Jam setups require extra blocks.)
After jumping, press A or D when you are past the wall.
You can also move your mouse to move straighter, but colliding with the wall will lower your speed, causing you to fail if you aim too far inward.
When moving along the Z axis, collision is processed slightly later.
This means that when you walk into the very corner of a block, you can jump past it without being stopped by the wall.
However, it also means that you must move further in order to pass the wall on the opposite side, making it more difficult.
Jumps that don't require jumping around an initial corner are hence much more precise when facing Z.
To set up a Z-facing Neo, sneak into the corner, aim slightly outward, then use your setup of choice.
